Do or die for Knight Riders

With the race for the semi-finals slots hotting up, Kolkata Knight Riders have a tough task ahead. While both Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have matches against Deccan and Bangalore, the two bottom-placed teams in the tournament, each of Kolkata's four remaining games are against formidable opponents. The clash between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders in a key match at the Eden Gardens here on Sunday promises lot of fireworks.

Korbo, lorbo, jeetbo re is a nice, peppy slogan but in order to do, fight and emerge victorious, SRK's team must be consistent.

The demoralising loss against Mumbai Indians on Friday will certainly bring into focus the Knight Riders’ inability to win matches against quality opposition. Both Chennai and Kolkata are looking to lift themselves after maulings at the hands of the resurgent Mumbai. The match could turn out to be a battle between Kolkata's outstanding bowling and the batting might of Chennai. It also pits the captaincy skills of former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly and the national team's current leader in the shorter formats, Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Though losing five matches out of ten so far may be par for the course, the Kolkata outfit cannot afford to lose any more ‘home’ matches. The forecast, however, isn’t good with thundershowers likely on Sunday afternoon. But for Sourav Ganguly & Co., it’s time not to look at the weatherman but to develop some steel.
